Bloody Abandonments
Teeny tiny abandonments add up; they sound polite, but land like a finger slammed in a door.
“That’s not how things are done.” “I don’t have the bandwidth.” “I can’t do that.”
The pretense that circumstances have tied the speaker’s hands is never true in my book. There must be something I can do. The lie is: I’m not gonna even try.
Count me as a person whose fingers will be wriggling in the last open space before I go.
You’ll know me by the finger in the door.
